A few good
questions.

For everything else, explore the guides.

Do my photos leave my Mac?

No. AfterAir converts locally using native macOS image frameworks. Your photos are not uploaded to a conversion service.

PNG or JPEG: which should I choose?

PNG uses lossless compression, usually with larger files. JPEG makes smaller, widely compatible photos with adjustable quality. Compare our PNG and JPEG guides.

What happens to the originals?

They stay where they are by default. You can choose to move them into an Originals folder instead. Your converted image is a separate file.

Does it only work with AirDrop?

No. AfterAir watches your chosen folder for new HEIC files, including ones you copy there. You can also choose or drop photos directly into the app.

Is AfterAir a paid app?

The current preview is free to download. The planned paid release is $9.99 USD, paid once, with version 1 updates included. Checkout is not open yet.

Which Macs can run it?

The current build requires Apple silicon and macOS 14 or later. Install from the DMG, then choose the folder where your photos arrive.

Why does macOS show a warning when I open it?

This preview has not yet been notarized by Apple. If you trust the download, follow our step-by-step installation guide to review the warning in macOS settings. Never disable Mac security globally.
