One-minute setup

Set the destination. Then forget the detour.

AfterAir listens for new files through macOS folder events. When a HEIC photo appears, it converts it locally and tells you when the result is ready.

1. Choose where photos land

Select Downloads, Desktop, or a dedicated AirDrop folder. AfterAir remembers the location and watches it for new HEIC or HEIF photos.

Good default: use Downloads if that is where your Mac already saves AirDropped files. Create a dedicated folder if you want a cleaner production workflow.

2. Choose the useful output

Pick PNG for lossless pixel data and design work, or JPEG for smaller, widely compatible images. JPEG quality is adjustable inside the app.

Not sure? Compare our PNG guide with the JPEG guide.

3. AirDrop as usual

There is no share extension or special destination on your iPhone. Send photos with AirDrop the same way you do now. AfterAir handles the Mac side.

4. Hear when it is done

A native notification plays AfterAir’s custom completion sound. Click it to open the destination folder and continue directly with the converted files.

Your original remains under your control

The safe setup keeps the source HEIC. You can decide how originals are handled rather than letting an automatic utility make a destructive choice for you.

Ready before Finder opens.
